The Lycoming T55 L-7 powerplant, first utilized on the Chinook helicopter beginning with 60-03450 produced up to 2,650 shaft horse power (SHP). Power computations were completed by the maintenance test pilot after flying the aircraft at a certain altitude and airspeed. Engine readings were taken and the data was used to follow the lines on the chart. At the end of the process, the pilot would determine if the engine was producing sufficient power. If not, maintenance would be performed on the engine or the engine would be replaced.. Click-N-Go Here to view a larger image. Click-N-Go Here to view a printable version of this image. |
