          5-4089

5-4089, was a CH-47C model helicopter. The acceptance date is unknown. The administrative strike date is unknown. The aircraft hours are unknown. 5-4089 was manufactured by Elicotteri Meridionali of Italy under license from Boeing as build number P-043. Originally sold to the country of Iran under the reign of the Shah of Iran, 5-4089 was property of the Imperial Iranian Army Aviation (IIAA). At some point, 5-4089 wound up in Iraq. As United States Army forces were traversing Iraq during the "War on Terrorism", 5-4089 was rediscovered at Al Taji Airfield. Al Taji is located about 27 km northwest of Baghdad. The airframe was badly damaged, appearing to have been hit by a rocket of some type and peppered with shrapnel holes. As of 4 July 2003, the last known location of 5-4089 was in Iraq. Aircraft status: Destroyed.
